Metasequoia glyptostroboides (Dawn Redwood)
The Dawn Redwood is a deciduous tree with feathery textured foliage. The beautiful exfoliating cinnamon red bark also offers a lot of texture and interest. The fruit is small cones that are about the size of a penny and light brown in color. They are a great versatile trees that are good for a stand alone specimen tree or in groupings, screening, lining a road or as an allée. They grow in most soil conditions but will be particularly happy in moist soils.
